2nd March 2010, Freetown - As part of the activities that led to the celebration of International Women's Day on March 8 2010, UNIPSIL Human Rights Section in collaboration with the Human Rights Commission of Sierra Leone organized a two-day training workshop (1st – 2nd March 2010) on sexual and gender based violence in Freetown.

The training sought to strengthen the capacity of local NGOs, CBOs operating in the Western Area and to also provide them with the relevant advocacy tools needed to publicize the three Gender Justice Acts; i.e. Domestic Violence Act, Registration of Customary Marriage and Divorced Act and Devolution of Estate Act. The training attracted thirty participants representing various NGOs, CBOs and civil society activists working at grassroots' level.
