Supporting improvements in the corrections system is part of the mandate of the Human Rights Section of UNIPSIL (UNIPIL HRS), the United Nations Integrated Peace Building Office in Sierra Leone. In the framework of its cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prisons Service, the Section conducts periodic monitoring of prisons and other detention facilities, engages relevant authorities on the findings, and provides technical assistance for the improvement of prisons as well as capacity building to officials and personnel of prisons, police and local courts. Click here to download full report
